Aurel,

Sleep deprivation and sleep pattern modification is a well-known means of breaking a subject's psychological will to resist interrogation. G.Gordon Liddy referred to it in his autobiography, "Will," as "Classic KGB/KAFKA." The technique consists of placing the subject in a windowless room without outside sensory cues, and then altering the lighting in the room to correspond to an artificial circadian rhythm, e.g. lights on for 12 hours, off for ten minutes, on for three days, off for an hour, etc. The disruption of normal sleep patterns can induce irritability, hallucination and extreme discomfort in the subject.

This method, coupled with alteration of food and bathroom usage, can go a long way toward psychologically destabilizing the subject.

I don't believe that is considered "torture" by most international bodies. It's probably not very PLEASANT, however. But on the spectrum of interrogation methods, it's pretty mild. Now, chemical interrogation or mere physicial abuse. . .that's a horse of a different color.

If I were the subject of interrogation, I would cave in immediately. Why go through all that unpleasantness? Besides, I figure my captors are busy people and need to move on to their next task.

It's a good thing I don't know any secrets. ;)

I was tortured once. They didn't make it easy. They finally got to me by giving me a grasshopper.

Okay Moses, Look intensely at this screen. I have some vice grips in my garage. What's your credit card number. :)
