what affect do you think they're trying to have by showing those?

ya, this one even gave me the willies and I have a pretty good gut for things like this. early 80'sin Newport RI, I actually saw a guy get his head blown off like that. A biker dude was play'n around with a squid P-officers wife, he found out, saw him on the street, asked him if was true. The biker dude looked hard core enough and said "Ya, what you gonna do about it pops"? Well, pops did somp'n bout it, calmly pulled a heater from his pants, Bang, point blank with a .45 between the eyes. I was 18 feet from in in broad daylight. Had matter splatter on my legs and shoulder. Had 28 eyewinesses - he got off.

How did you feel when you saw footage of those US contract workers murdured, then their bodies burned and abused last year? Did you feel the perps did an outstanding job capturing our guys, then murduring them? Of course not (I assume). You probably felt repulsed, then utter hatred for people who could do that.

If Iraqis saw this photo of one of their guys with his brains gone, it would have the same affect on them (utter hatred for people who could do that). Is that the effect you/we want?

If you think this pic shows Iraqi insurgents our skill and prowess in killing them from long range, I would suggest you adjust your point of view.

Fintstone thinks that picture might act as some sort of deterent, even though the guy was about to blow himself to (much smaller) bits anyways. (Our sniper actually did the guy's mother a favor, his body was in more or less one piece for burial).

Don't try to reason w/ Fint, parallel logic goes right through him like ***** through a goose.

I commend the sniper for that great shot, but this board is not the place to post gore. There are plenty of other sites for that, people here don't want to accidentally stumble across pictures like that one.

If you could possibly believe this, my original intent was not to glorify the gore or the tragedy of war. I was mainly awe struck by the soldier's marksmanship at extreme long distance and the precision of the weapon that permitted it.I have seen plenty of this first hand and it is still very disturbing. More disturbing is the fact that these poor people have been so brain washed that they are willing to wrap explosives around their bodies for a imaginary trip to paradise. Just as disturbing is that many of our young people are losing their lives in a dead end effort to change the way of thinking of a people group that can't be changed. A leopard can't change it's spots.

Reds right (or is it left?) anyway...why is it that the powers that be get hung up over nipples et al and how often in the past have we seen some pretty hard core gore on the tube? Even CSI is gettin rough.

A bare nipple and butt that does the female form justice insights loathing and leasure at best. You can't even say it promotes anything of harm. Seeing dura matter and burned bodies does far worse.
