Photos of bad deer hit
Edited for content. Too graphic. -Z-man.
Must of been a bad picture.
We have had the duck taking out half an airplane, plus the deer versus the tuboprop propeller- no problems then. |
Z-Man was all over that like a bum on a bologna sandwich; like 5 minutes! Must have been bad....
Or did the deer lobby hereon bombard Z-Man w/ complaints? JP |
well for those who tuned in for carnage.....http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1104948214.jpg

that's a bad deer all right.
Deer in the headlights v. moose in the taillights (almost) ...
JP |
That's what happens when you stop to give a moose a ride.
Even in the back seat. |
I just did a high-speed roadtrip of ~2000 miles in each direction and hitting a deer was my only real safety concern. It seems like the highest risk of instant death or really bad destruction, by a long shot. They are the perfect height to come through the windshield @ 80-100 mph.
Come to think of it, on Speed Channel - the program where the ex-racer (Brit) drives vintage cars (Alpha Romeo this time) had about 250 feet ahead of the car, a tiny European deer crossing the road.................could of been bad for the Alpha.

Try it on your bike someday, Denis. Last summer I was in southern Montana at dusk. Had the bike down to 20 mph trying to dodge the deer. They were everywhere. During one stretch a few miles long I nearly hit several. Should have just stopped and waited a couple hours, but we were trying to make it to a campground. I once saw a motorcycle in Yellowsone that had hit a bison broadside at high speed. THAT was ugly.

Funny you should mention that, Richard, I was thinking during this drive how much fun newer BMW R-1100S or equivilent would be on a summer trip, you know, *cannonball* it through the boring parts w/ a V-1 and linger in the fun/beautiful parts. The problem is that the deer population is way up everywhere, including flat farm states like Nebraska, etc....
Yeah, but just don't do it on a R1100S. That's what I did my 5000 mile trip on last summer. A 2003. It SUCKED! Those bikes are horrible buzz bombs. I still have nerve damage in my pinkies from that ride. But I agree... x-country on a large displacement sport tourer is a blast!
Holy cow, that's scary....hope the rider was ok.
Damn, that was brutal. I used to ride, lost it going onto the freeway (interstate) one day. No physical injuries but much damage to the Triumph. Kept it on the dirt after that. Love to ride but the complacent, cell phone talking, coffee drinking, mini-van drivers are JUST TO DANGEROUS.
Man, the speedo on the guy's bike that was videotaping was at 113 when the other guy hit... that's damn fast to be hitting a deer!
My guess is that the 113 is in klicks... probably Canada or Europe. But still brutal!

OUCH! Come on hunters, thin out those populations! They are horrible here in Central KS, anytime you near a cluster of trees, look out.
