The Japanese are not only heavy smokers they also have a very low incidence of lung cancer. There was some researchers trying to identify the cause, genetic or diet. Also few fat Japanese (at least amongst the tourists in Milan.
France also has a lot of heavy smokers and proportionally low levels of lung cancer, but high levels of mouth cancer and eye problems caused by smoking - this was put down to French smokers not inhaling much but keeping cigarettes in their mouth.

perhaps the elderly obese smoked as well.While I agree that people that eat healthy foods live longer,they as well usually have healthier lifestyles. Anyone who thinks smoking does not cause cancer is living in the dark ages and/or trying to justify a smoking habit.

I wish my 17 would gain some weight - below is a pic, she just rolled out of bed and popped a D-coke. The kid doen't eat anything decent and she is somewhat attractive. She is a Sr. in HS and "seeing" a college Jr. The HS boyz were sniffing around her when she was in Jr High. Fortunitly - she is a rather, how do you say, beotch?
