iMount+iPod+iTrip

I bought an iMount unit that attaches to the cigarette lighter. It holds and charges your iPod. It also holds my iPod with iTrip (FM transmitter) in a perfect position for great transmission. I just keep the radio preset to 87.9 and I'm good to go. I still control the volume with the steering wheel controls. The sound quality is as good as a wired input.

The iMount is NOT a good 911 solution. The cigarette lighter is too recessed under the dash lip. For the 911, I have this little no-slip pad made of some gummy soft material that grips the dash and the iPod really well. I take corners pretty quick and it hasn't budged. Again, keeping the iTrip so close to the antenna gives great reception.

Restraint is not one of my virtues. ;)

I tried the iTrp but it didn't work out for me. The signal to noise was too low. Maybe it's because I had the iPod on the passenger seat, a little ways away from the antenna? I've resorted to the ole cassette adapter. Not an elegant solution because the wire gets tangled up with the V1 power cord and my cell phone headset cord. Had to do it though. Can't be w/o my iPod.

Guess I am sold on that imount thingy. I have just been using the fm transmitter so i'm limited to batteries and forever trying to find a place to keep the ipod safe.
And will keep in mind the dash too.
Thanks.

Remember the iMount is NOT a good fit in a 911.

Moses.
My monitor is on the way out. (Quite dark)
So for the 911 you are not using the imount just adhearing to the dash?
Guess I should read more throughly.

That looks very similar to my DLO transPod - same deal, except the 'iTrip' is built in.

I found this one. Only available for the iPod Mini. It's called Flex-Dock. Might work in a 911.
