He paid one of his internet cronies to write a script to PM each pelican user. It's not hard to scrape the screens with a script. I think a ban is in order, he should have just posted it.

banning won't help much , he'll just create a new user name, seems like he allready has 3 names ( probably to send faster , PP limits to one message per xx seconds)

This guy also sent e-mails to Rennlist users. I all sounds like a big scam. He's asking for an insanely low amount of money for a big budget event and huge prize package. Can't we report him to someone?

there's the adress book
then you make a script
make a couple of fake users
the you feed the adress book to the script
which in turn pipes it through the different users...

you can't prevent this sort of crap ,

well you could , but you need 24/7 coverage of your server
and limit basically everything you can do on the board.


the board has a limitation of 1 message per user , per every 60 seconds, i suppose they could increase this interval to say 180 seconds, which wouldn't be too bad at all, but all it would do , is slow down the script by a factor of 3, in return , all they would need to do , is create 3 times more fake users , and they are back up to normal speed

they could ip ban the source of the spam , but my guess is , they will simply switch to another ip and or ip range...


really , there is very little you can do about this , except ride out the storm and hope it doesn't happen too often



i heard there's new antispam laws in the US , maybe some lawyer can give it a go , but the cost is probably high , and the payoff too little to make it worthwile...

so almost every other message I get has a [deny] option this one does not, anyone know why?

The only way to prevent this is the anti-robot "show an image of random funky numbers/letters" and make the user type them, for every PM. Sounds like too much trouble to me.
