OS X Stuff: Backing up important stuff

I only have like 11 gigs left on my 60 gig laptop drive, so I'm going to back up my important stuff and do a factory restore... There's a lot of crap I installed, downloaded, etc, that I just don't need and don't want to sort through.

So... I'm going to start with my keychain access. Anyone know how to back that up? My export menu item is greyed out, so I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong.

What are all of the things I should back up that I'll remember just after formatting everything?

Lots of solutions here.

I replaced my laptop harddrive. They sell an inexpensive firewire case that allows your old hard drive to mount as a peripheral. After installing the newer, bigger hard drive, I downloaded all the info from the old one to the new one. Easy to do.

Check out Synchronize,

They have a demo version.

Apples Disk Utility does a great job of cloning discs but you sound like you want to start from scratch.

Moses suggestion is not bad at all.

Buy a new drive and use the old one as back up storage.

If you go the new drive route then I HIGHLY recommend the 60 gig Hitachi.

My 17 in. came with the 80 gig 5400 RPM drive, I swapped it for the smaller 60 gig Hitachi 7200 rpm drive.

Model: HTS726060M9AT00

The drive screams. It makes all the difference in the world.
