DMV registration renewal question
Hi,
I've now waited over three weeks since I sent in my registration renewal and DMV hasn't even cashed the check. Meanwhile, my registration has expired and DMV is telling me things can take another three weeks to clear. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I don't want to have to keep my car parked just because DMV's bureaucracy is slow. Thanks for any suggestions, Johan |
Be persistent with them. If you have AAA, you should go through them next time. They take care of everything the same day. Also the DMV offers web services for registration renewal now. Keep a copy of the check and the registration renewal in the car with you in case you get pulled over.

When I bought my Highlander, it took them five months to get me the license plate!

I never received a registration renewal form through the mail, which is why I couldn't do the renewal on-line. I'll try AAA next.
Thanks for the suggestions. / J |
was in similar situation here in WI.
DMV rep i spoke with indicated police were aware and sympathetic due to known processing time. not your fault. i'd keep drivin. |
Here in Washington, we have the option of using privately owned licensing centers where you can get your new plates on the spot. It costs an extra three dollars, but everybody seems to agree it's better than standing in line for an hour like it used to be.
Here's an example for Superman on private enterprise getting it done better than the government. Sorry for taking the thread a bit sideways. |
you wont get hassled unless its like 2 or 3 months out generally.
additionally, "the holidays officer, i sent it in around thanksgiving".... or "why dont you just cite me for the bad registration instead of speed,,, officer?" |
They probably won't ticket you if pulled over, but it gives them a reason to pull you over and have a look around.
