Camcorder death?

I had the camera on interval recording, and I just happened to look up and the LCD monitor was all "mush" I'm guessing the CCD died; I can play tapes on the LCD just fine, but I anything though the lense is garbage. I might be able to use it with a remote lense, but I don't have one to try - sources?

This is what I was trying to do; I thought it would be cool to document the car's progress in time-lapse fashion.

Looks like the ccd read circuitry quit.
