What's the fastest you've driven ?..
The "tweel" thread got me to thinking about speed and how fast people drive.. the fastest I've driven is 180mph on my bike and 140mph in my car .
|
I recently hit 130mph in my '76, but I'll be damned if I'm doing that again until I get some better tyres. ;)
|
First (and last) time on the highway before i had to put my car away for the winter i hit 110. Weak I know but this summer will be fun. :)

190MPH: 993 TT
1.25M: F-16C Block 30 AFJuvat |
About 165mph (6100rpm in 4th) and it would not go one iota faster - it took about 5 miles to get there. I guess these flat/straight roads are good for something..
|
Only about 135, but I do it fairly regularly on empty highways if I'm driving a safe, fast car.

Middle of nowhere, (desert), in my Volvo:

A touch over 200, on a race track of course
|
130 at the end of a 1/4 mile in my drag car, 140+ On a deserted road in the P-car before installing the shorter tranny.

125 in the 944. The car would have had some oomph left in it but it started shaking some. I think the tires need a balancing.
I went 156 (maxed out 5th) in my old boss's colt. Car had plenty of power, only got stopped by the gearing (7800rpm). It was nice and comfy up to that speed, little wind noise. It was more scary trying to slow it down (stock brakes. dinky 10.2 inch rotors and single calipers. DOT3 fluid..not happening). I mustve coasted for like...4 miles at triple digit speeds waiting for the car to slow down where I could use the brakes effectively. Big turbos just never seem to have an end to the power:D |
Wot's MPH?
Indicated 300KPH in a v12 Mercedes. |
140+ on a new (read: not used much yet) section of highway near here.
|
My old 944 turbo would do 140 at redline in fourth.
Did that a couple of times, decided not to go to fifth. |
I once did 60 in a 45!
|
Once in my V.W. Bus,.........well never mind.;)
|
...and one time, at band camp...
