Latest Ebay scam

Here's the brief background. I was a bidder on some parts on Ebay. I didn't have a need for them and consequently didn't bid very high. I naturally didn't win the auction, and was about 5th place on the bidding list.

After the auction ended, I got an email that supposedly came through Ebay by the seller, with a second chance offer accepting my very low bid.

I think this is the latest scam because of several factors:

1) The Nigerian certified check cashing is no longer productive

2) I've purchased from the seller before and they said they only use the email address where I contacted them and not the one that is listed as the reply on the second chance offer.

3) The seller is located in the midwest, while the person asking for payment resides in London.

4) The seller is asking for payment through western union only. Won't accept paypal.

So, if anyone in London wants to put a real scare into this jerk, I'd be happy to let him know I have a friend who will personally pick up the parts.

I received the same "offer" on a Monarch Lathe I bid on last week. The idiot scammer didn't care that there was a phone # in the auction. A quick call comfirmed that I indeed did not have a second chance at the machine.

Thanks for the tip-off! I have made "second chance" purchases previously, but will be more cautious if I get notified again.

Having some fun with my fraudster this morning. Now he's offered to ship a long block all the way from London for $70 as long as I wire the funds by western union.

I told him I had a certified check for an amount in excess of the purchase price and that I'd like to give it to him and get the difference back in cash.

Open to suggestions for further stringing this guy along. Anyone have any friends in London that might want to buy a 3.2 motor cheaply?
