What's your computer area look like?
Are you a computer-in-the-family-room type, is it in your office, garage, or all of the above?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106594567.jpg 12" powerbook, spare monitor, and a 17" iMac g5. The windows box is banished into the darkness of the closet, where my linux server lives. |
Have three flat screens hooked up to one server using W2000. A KVM switch connects three computers together but its networked anyway.
Flatbed scanner is under the table, business card and negative scanners are on the desk and triple printers on the end of the workstation. HP Laserjet 4500 for normal printing, HP 895 for color and older Canon bubble jet for labels and envelopes. Laptop sits on the desk to the right of the main station and is networked with cat 5 to the hub. Have WiFi for working around the house, garage and by the pool. Spend far too much time on the computer.... BTW, your desk is far too clean, sign of a demented mind! :) JoeA |
Who cares, I want a bite of the Toblerone. mmmmmm
Actually have 2 in my home office which has transformed into the kids playroom much to my dismay, 1 in the garage and the wife and I surf in the living room from our laptops. All Macs. Scott |

I think Bryan posted a photo of this area before (months ago...) and the Toblerone was there then!! Scary!! Brian, your space is way too neat!! :) (BTW: you have a PM from me) |
Right now...solid concrete with no furniture. My basement flooded when we got 2 days of 65º weather with torrential rain. The ground was still saturated and frozen a few inches down so the water went to where there was room...
Can't post pictures as my home computer is disassembled. (I'm at work.) |
I agree! To clean! Where's all the crap I have layin around??? If ya ain't gotta dig, it wasn't worth findin!
|
too clean?! I love it this way, everything perfectly in its place, all tidy and whatnot... It used to be a total pit, but I feel so unproductive if everything isn't neat and clean. My old boss was a total obcessive-compulsive and I think his pickyness rubbed off on me a little bit. When you design programs for someone THAT picky, I think you're bound to become more picky yourself...
Anywho... the Toblerone is only from Christmas... and is still yummy :) Joe, your setup sounds pretty awesome, post a pic? I'm looking for a couple more LCDs, but I hear it's not easy to get the iMac to run multiple monitors... anyone here done it? |
Bachelor Setup: scrap lumber spread between a bookshelf and an entertainment stand, both of similar height. The computer-related books, printer, and computer-related CD/DVDs live on the bookshelf. The computer case lives inside the entertainment stand, with movie-type DVDs in the entertainment stand storage space.
Simple, operable, cheap, and ugly. :) Dan |

OOOoooooh! Swanky! Suede paint?
|
|
You guys are swanky. This mess, as Jack Olsen would say, is "where the magic happens". :D

Doc, What are the x-rays of?
|
Doc,
You have the exact same desk i do. got it at staples for about 129 i believe. :) nice and cheap, and functional. |
Hey Denis, I want the wallpaper you've got on your laptop! Cool! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Speeder, the x-rays are actually of my dog (akita) after she got hit by a car . If you look close at the box in the middle of the picture, you can see some metal staples towards the bottom right (as you are looking at it). When i saw the x-rays i was like....WTF only surgery she had was getting fixed and there shouldn't have been any staples like that.....she pooped out a leather strap she ate somewhere a day later that had 3 staples in it, lol. |
|
No pics.
Empty, lonely ashtrays everywhere.... |
In the bedroom (had to give up the office for one of the kids to have a bedroom). Wife's windows machine, my dual amd box (heats the room a few degrees) running Linux, my iMac server running Linux, and a laptop runnning Linux for when I want to lay down on the love seat or bed and surf. All networked. Also have a spot in the garage for doing repairs, etc. and a laptop out there for readign electronic docs while I work on my 356.

Brian,
Here you go. One 15", one 17" and one 20" inch flat panel. Two scanners (negative and business card) in front and a flatbed underneath. Connected to the corner part of the desk is a 8' Hayward work station where the laptop and other computer (networked) are stationed. Once you get used to two (or more) monitors its almost impossible to go back. I multitask using the monitors by putting email on one, and various internet browsers, Word documents or Excel files on the others and get a lot more work done at one time. Its easy to set up, let me know if anyone is interested. JoeA http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106802708.jpg |
Alright I'll contribute - here is my desk at home.

Bryan,
Just had a friend of mine send me a .jpg of a computer work station with 13 monitors. Looks "very nice" and would post it but they have some photos of ladies in various stages of undress and the mod would not appreciate it. If you (or anyone else) would like to see it, email me directly. joeaksaATattglobal.net (replace the AT with @) JoeA |

Lol! Funny! Our whole house is done in that stuff. My wife does, indeed, dig it. My guess is your office is the same as my den-Arrow Wood. Hard to tell though as light plays tricks with it. Very nice. |
Amir, dont hurt yourself with those 2.5 lbs weights... http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/lol2.gif

I don't have pictures but here is my home setup:
5 laptops - all connect wireless g 2 Media PCs - one in the living room connected to the Sammy DLP, one in the game room connected to the other HD set. I am ordering a mini mac to connect to my game room TV as well to see what macs are like. I used to have a desk and an office pc but found that the wife and I typically surf while on the couch watching TV so we went all laptops and wireless. I have extras so when I'm in the garage or we have visitors everyone can play. |
One Mac with a 23" Cinema and a P4 with a 22" Cinema. Assorted crap piled and spread everywhere.

What's with all the CDs on the wall. Music Collection?? or New Modern Styling ?? |
|
First night in the new office. Bare bones for now, but you get the idea. Had to reduce the flash or the light would bounce like crazy off the corrugated sheetmetal wall treatment.

Custom made desk and cabinets to fit the space |
Motion, I love those displays! Are the CDs just hanging there for quick access or is it art?
|
My basement "office" (temporarily)
The computers are down the basement until the home renovation project is done, then they're all going in the new den, along with the drumset, guitars and keyboard. We'll finally be out of the basement! Yessss!!

Yeah yeah I know, low on wine and what's up with the *****y monitor. Once my tax refund shows up I'll spring for a nice 20" lcd. |
Chris and Bryan - The CDs are multimedia CDs I've created for various companies. Its a good way to display them... I just put a push-pin in the wall and hang the CD on it.
