Yep, hop out and use your feet!

Holy crap!
That chick almost got creamed...what an idiot!

I saw that clip on the news a couple of weeks ago.

Moronic! These people actually think that by hanging out the car dragging their feet on the ground is more effective than ABS brakes.

Which reminds me!

I used to live in NYC. It snows there every year, yet most people drive big-ass RWD Monte Carlo's or other awful snow cars. I drove a FWD Acura Integra there and never had a problem. You would think they would have the sense to drive 4WD Subaru's or something.

I live in the Metro-NY area.

I drive a Subaru AWD Legacy.

Not all folks from the NYC area drive RWD Monte-Carlos. Now they drive Cadillac Escalades!

Besides, the last time they made a RWD Monte was like back in the 80's...

Biggest single factor in getting stopped: Proper snow tires. In deep snow, it also helps to have an ABS defeat switch, to allow the snow to form a wedge in front of the tires.

oldE, Is that true? Better to have no ABS if you are trying to stop in the snow? I suppose it wouldn't be if you were actually trying to turn while stopping.

She's been watching too many Flinstones episodes......

Right, they did some tests over here and in some condition locking the breaks build a pile of snow in front of the tires and you will stop faster. But this is an exception.
