go-kart kit or plans
My sons 8th birthday iscoming up and we were thinking af getting a go-kart kit or plans so he and I can build the go-kart together and start teaching him about mechanics and driving early.
Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas? the budget would have to be less than 300 for everything. Used motors and stuff are okay, I am not looking for a racing shifter kart, just something so he can learn about tools, etc. Thanks Mike |

There are sevral website that offer D-I-Y kits in about every stage you could think of. Look into minibikes.com or google it.

My son just had his 6th birthday, and we bought him a go-kart because he outgrew his power wheels. They had a good one at Schucks (Checker, Kragen or CSK as known elsewhere). We spent $200 on it, and It is pretty fast.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1107646346.jpg

www.Northerntool.com also has a How-to book and every component needed to build one. Ebay is probably an excellent source as well.
I'd like to see other ideas. $200 for a cart is downright inexpensive. Is there a motor on it? :) |
Its just a 2 cycle weed wacker motor. It tops at 20mph.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1107889078.jpg

it even comes with disc brakes it was well worth the 200.00 we paid for it my kid rides it all the time.the factory did a poor job of tightening the bolts.so when you get it out of the box you need to go through everything and tighten it all.
