Check your smoke Alarms!!!
While taking my Sunday nap, the house behind me caught on fire. I didn't hear a thing, until my wife screamed at me.
The neighbor was trapped in the second story, until a neighbor could knock the fire down with a garden hose, nice to have a fire fighter in the neighborhood. As she came down something exploded. She is okay, but could have gotten out sooner if the smoke alarm was working. There was over 15 trucks and 8 police car for this one fire. I will also bet they didn't have renters insurance to cover there personal items, they are going to get a bad wake up call on Monday if they didn't. Please check yours. Michael

Well, since you mention it, today one of Madrd's tallest buildings was completely destroyed by fire. Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt and the building didn't collapse because the structure was made of concrete rather than steel. The fire is supposed to have been caused by an electrical short-circuit.
Curiously enough, 20 out of 32 stories were leased by audit firm Deloitte, who also occupied some space in the twin towers. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050213/ap_on_re_eu/spain_building_fire_13 ![]() |
