singed/unsigned, how big is the word, etc.

God I hated dealing with dumps in school. Funny thing is the instructor had to simulate a dump, since he had no access to anything he knew well enough to teach. Got a D in that class, retook it next semester with a different instructor and he concentrated on conversions and logic instead of storage of data on 25+ year old mainframes.
