Rennlist question
 
Is it my imagination, or do you have to be a currently Rennlist member to do anything on their site? I'm trying to find a set of 930 heater ducts, and I wanted to post over there, but my membership expired some time ago and I got rejected.

And maybe it's just me, but the seem to be a bit heavy-handed with the sponsorship thing; for example, having a 'request a quote for transport' link on every page.

I was one of the original 100 folks registered on Rennlist years ago. When they started the snide "You should join and pay up or leave" program, I bailed. Haven't been back since.

THe remarks didn't come directly from the "management" to be fair.

You have to be a paying member to access the Off Topic section and also to put up an ad in the classifieds. You should have access to everything else.

Rennlist is an awsom resource, at least for us waterpumpers.
I don't frequent the oilcooled areas so I cannot comment on that.

No one tells you to leave if you don't sign up to be a paying member. We will try to encourage posters to sign up, though. Rennlist does not fund it self. I suppose if you are sore or uptight, you could take this the wrong way (which is sad).

Ditto what schnellfahrer said.

There was some yelling etc when JD changed it over but it has settled down with certain 'restrictions' for non-paying members. Seems to be less of a modifiers-type crowd but a great resource. Peter Zimmerman (Used Porsche Story), Jack Olsen, Steve from Rennsport & many others are regulars in the 911 area.

Judging from Wayne's infamous pessimistic deleted post, it might be inevitable that PP goes the same way. I for one would pay, as I do for Rennlist. For the price of a magazine subscription, I get a resource that would otherwise be unaffordable for the hoster & unavailable in any other place.
