Does this look like your Grandpa's Car

I guy at work has the last year model, and it is comfy on the inside.

The new model has everything in a daily driver.

I was really stuck on the Acura TL, but this has 6 inch more leg room in the back.

Michael

Thanks Michael. We've been thinking of buying a different car as a daily driver, grocery getter, people hauler, and Cindy mentioned the Avalon today. Give another report after you've had it a while, okay? Paul

I haven't bought it, just thinking about it.

You have to have something more fun as a daily driver. The Avalon runs in the high 20s to mid 30s. Get something with a little performance and fun. Do you do a great deal of driving for work or to work? My opinion is that if you don't truly love a car then don't tie yourself down to it with car payments etc. I am biased against most Toyotas except the trucks. My mom has a 1999 Corolla with 100,000 + miles, my dad has an 2003 Camry with 25,000 miles before that he had an 1989 Camry with 225,000 miles and before that a 1985 Toyota Minivan with 216,000 miles. I am just sick of them personally. They last too damn long and don't feel like fun cars to me. Life is just too short to always be practical.

The Avalon is a great option, but check out the V6 Camry with leather interior. You might like it just as much for less cost.

My wife and I both drive Camrys (Camries? Camri?) because they are so reliable and such good values. We had been seriously considering upgrading to an Avalon when the new body style came out and we were looking for a car for her. We drove the new and old style Avalons and Camrys and some used ones.

Ultimately we bought a used Camry V6 XLE with leather and all the bells and whistles. We liked the used Camry V6 more than the new Avalon and it was easily half the price. We're a couple of years into it now and love it more than ever. We like it a lot more than the Camry with the smaller engine we bought brand new.

Ownign a Camry as a daily driver makes a lot of sense. I don't apologize for it. The money I save driving them makes it possible to drive my Porsche and still save a fe bucks each month for my next vehicle.

Read about the Avalon in AutoWeek, sounds like a nice cruiser.

This new one has quite a bit more HP than the outgoing one. Something like 280 hp or so? Seemed like a lot.

I was surprised to read that the average Avalon buyer age is . . . 66!

"Read about the Avalon in AutoWeek, sounds like a nice cruiser."

This isn't a car, it's a transportation appliance. Any car review that contains phrases such as "AARP years", "direct aim at .... Buick, Cadillac and the like", or "the new engine is so quiet and smooth that you not only forget it's on, you forget why you got into the car to begin with" sends me running for the tall grass!!! Give me a car with some quirks and some character!
