lottery pool

i posted this on the rennlist - lots of interest. pelican members welcome too:

anyone interested in joining a lottery number pool? purely for fun. the odds are never good; but you never know????? canadian Lottery 6/49 tickets (wednesdays and saturdays) and/or Super 7 tickets (fridays) will be purchased as long as there is participation (i.e. group funds). select numbers will be "wheeled" and/or numbers will be picked by quick pick
(randomly generated by the lotto machine). grand prizes are typically in the millions of dollars ($CDN).

$10 for one unit, $20 for 2 units, $30 for 3 units and so on per draw. once you're in, you're in. no pulling out and no refunds. any and all proceeds from winning tickets totalling less than $1001 will be re-invested for the group. winnings greater than $1001 will be paid out. individual winnings will be based on the number of units an individual buys divided by the total units purchased by the group per draw. the group will be disbanded when the majority holders (1 vote per unit purchased) decides so and proceeds, if any, will be paid out.

ticket numbers chosen will be sent to the participants prior to the draw participated in. larger prizes will be paid out pursuant to a group agreement and local laws. if interested, email me directly,

mike

people on rennlist may be math challenged...;)

i'd like to form a group of 10-20 people, $500 or so.

i have 3 confirmed (paid up), 5 others committed. i'd like to buy for next wednesdays draw, friday or saturdays at the latest. it'll take me time to select and wheel the numbers (this increases chances of winning as long as 3 or more of the numbers drawn are within the group of numbers selected).

i won't purchase tickets until the dollar amount is large enough so anyone interested can email me. paypal works best.

Can someone in the US win in Canada?

lots and lots of americans buy canadian lotto tickets because of our jackpot sizes. besides i'm a canadian in canada buying tickets for a group. if by chance the winnings are substantial, there's a group agreement, with me as the trustee. i believe winnings are paid directly from the lotto corp to each individual winner in the group. no idea if americans would have to pay taxes though. that's between you george w. and his crew and/or our government. we canadians get the winnings tax-free.

I don't mean to rain on your parade but Canadian jackpots are no where near the size of most US lotteries.

statistically (i.e proportionately), americans buy far more canadian lotto tickets than we american ones. other than the u.s. powerball lottos, we hold our own - $12MM+ this past saturday, $24MM+ last friday.

spots for 10 more participants. then i cap this round off. first come, first served.....

add to that the exchange rate...

mike55 02-14-2005 10:46 AM

........geeez buddy. yes there are bigger lottos, yes there's an exchange rate difference which by the way works both ways - US$20 buys CDN$24 of tickets and a prize of CDN$1MM = US$830K. still not too bad.

anyway, the whole point of this is to have a little fun, take a chance and leverage a modest pool of funds for potential gain. worst case is we loose our initial $10, $20,...... best case? who knows?

still have 10 spots. step right up!
