Anybody paint their house with vinyl paint?
I have read that these new vinyl paint products last "forever". And franky, I need to paint my house this year and would like to make it the first and last time I ever paint. So has anyone tried it and is it for real or are they just blowing smoke?
Hmmm...I wonder if I can paint my house with POR15????? ![]()

I have never heard of it. I'd be curious to find out, though.
Most home products that "last forever" are marketing gimmicks. What they really mean is that "it will last 10-15 years and you will sell your house before you find this out". Even vinyl or aluminum siding, while the siding itself will last indefinitely, the color will start to degrade in as soon as 10 years. I am so not looking forward to painting this summer...

You're not in Charlotte are you?
![]() http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/news/local/10706470.htm?1c I would be very cautious with this product. On the other hand, my business depends on building failures, so we love it when new, unproven stuff like this enters the marketplace. ![]() |

COOL! Thanks! Somehow, I knew I could ask any obscure question on any topic and get a great answer on this BBS. It never ceases to amaze me. May I ask if you can recommend the brand and if you know where it is available?

I've heard of problems with oil based paints in humid regions and would imagine a vinyl paint would have similar problems. I use a flat latex exterior paint which "sluffs" off over time to maintain a clean appearance. It has to be repainted every 7 years or so, but it doesn't mold or trap moisture.

My builder is using a paint called "PVA" on my new drywall, he said he believes it's vinyl-based. It's new and supposed to be very good as a primer, we'll see...

Quick Update: One of my colleagues at work had his house painted with vinyl and he LOVES it. However, he was very unhappy with the painters who applied it and finds they are the only authorized dealer in the region. Very frustrating. But regardless, here is a link to the company that produced the paint...
http://www.liquidvinylsystem.com/home/home.html Now I am on a mission to see if I can find a way to actually buy a few cans of the stuff. I may try it on one side of my house to see if I like it. If I like it half as much as my colleague, it will be worth the effort.

Thanks for checking. I think I may be zeroing in on the target...except I called the place and they won't sell it to me...I can only obtain it through the local assclowns and only if I pay them $$$ to apply it. This is suddenly getting very frustrating. I can't even imagine telling a customer (with credit card in hand) that I won't sell him/her my product. Aarrgh!!
