Read the lease contract. It will tell you who is responsible for the repairs.

Arghhh!! Not another Bug lease fiasco! I'm just nearing the end of my wife's Bug lease. It's been a nightmare! I'm very sorry to tell you that the repairs (in almost all cases unless there's some weird lease program) are all yours. The car is well out of warranty as well unless that part is covered under the 100k powertrain warranty. Check with VW of America. Despite the fact that the bugs are crap, they've been really good about covering things on our bug. Let's see.....new motor, inumerable defective/broken interior parts, frozen gas doors, oil leaks, wheel bearings, etc., etc, etc.
I know what you're thinking-can I back away from the lease and the car. Nope. Sorry. Again each situation can be different, but the norm is, once you sign-it's yours. Trust me-I feel your pain. I would really campaign directly to VW about this or maybe the dealer. |
