China or Japan for this summer vacation

I have a bunch a United miles I want to blow off, we can get first class tickets to Tokyo or Hong Kong, where would you go? We would take a 10 day vacation.

Michael

Depending upon when you are going you might consider the Beijing Olympics as a draw card for China.

I lived in Japan for three years and absolutely loved it. I have visited Hong Kong five or six times and found it also enjoyable (I haven't been since 97 - so things could have changed greatly since the Brits are out). I was way up into the New Territories but was always afraid to actually go into China - my time was always spent in Kowloon and Hong Kong via the Star Ferry. My vote would be Japan hands down! Both places have unique characteristics (Hong Kong had more Rolls Royces per square mile than any other place in the world) whereas every train stop in Japan has something special to see but most importantly I always felt safe in Japan. I can't speak of the hotties in Japan anymore since my wife always gets quite jealous whenever I start talking about Japan for that reason. If you go to Japan you must visit the 'love motels'.

Would you say that we should just stay in Toyko for 10 days?

Just for sightseeing purposes, try to hit Kyoto. I recommend Hiei-zan and Kiyomizu (shrines/temples).
