Ahhhh, the beautiful California weather

We just had another beautiful day here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The temperature was almost 70 degrees today, and I got to drive the Porsche, and take a nice long hike up the mountains in my short sleeve shirt and my shorts. I'm loving this weather! According to the forecast, we are supposed to have sunny weather and temperatures in the 60's for the rest of the week!

Okay, I'll quit now, because I have a feeling the back east guys are going to flame me for this thread .

Thanks for letting me rant!

We do have some of the greatest weather. The Targa top was off yesterday and I had a blast. The only bad thing are the Santa Ana winds we have been getting lately.

Man, I would miss winter if I were you guys. Snowmobiling, skiing, ice skating on the pond, ski plane flying, 4-wheel drifting on the way to work, sipping coffee on snowy Saturday morning while looking out the window of the shop. You could not pay me enough to live in a place without all four REAL seasons.

By car snow/skiing is 90 minutes away and the beach is 15 minutes, but you didn't hear me say that I like it that 75% of my wardrobe consists of short pants and short sleeve shirts. Had to buy a winter coat for my trips back East.

I'll pass on the whole "winter" deal thank you.

I moved out of Florida because it was too cold in the winter months.

Warm weather is nice until you have to buy power from other states to run air conditioning in the summer. Usually that's no big deal if the other states have it to sell. But with the mild winter the NW is getting, there isn't enough snow in the mountains to ski on and consequently there won't be enough run off to provide hydroelectric power "downstream" to Kaulifornia in the summer. Although I think Tahoe got Washington's share of snow this year.

On a different note, when I first saw this thread, I expected a picture of a girl in a bikini.

Heh.. it hit almost 99ºF here two days ago.

Since then, we've had a staggering 140mm (~5.5") of unseasonal rainfall! - in just two days!

I think the only people who wish for four seasons are those who live in up here in the frozen wasteland.

Also, i think only poor people say that money doesn't buy happiness.

We wont need your stinking run off...

...b.c all of "your" snow is on our mountains and in our resevoirs. I think LA got 20 inches of rain in December... average is 3... yearly average is way under 20... We're stoked...

Tim and others: I lived most of my life in the rust belt, annual snowfall in excess of 120 inches on the shore of beautiful Lake Ontario. Where I live now, I have four seasons, lakes and snow a half hour away in the 10,000 ft Catalina Mountains where there is even a ski center, a few months of relatively hot weather but with low humidity, the house is cooled by evaporative cooler (A/C in owner's suite only) and the only thing the evap requires is water and a squirrel cage blower. I have found that many who opt for the "four real seasons" scenario are simply "sour grapes" (present company excluded, of course). I worked back east for a local company and could not relocate until I had enough years in to early retire. As soon as I could, I left to enjoy the rest of my life without a snow shovel or 25 pound bags of calcium chloride.

Now if I want REAL winter, I can head a few hours North to really high country, enjoy the national forests and many ski resorts. In the other direction, I can go to Rocky Point and enjoy the Ocean. The difference is I have all of this within two hours of home. Living in the Norteaast or Midwest, two hours gets you nada in climate change!!

However, I urge all those living in the snowy areas to ignore my neck of the woods, since it is really terrible living here. We all lie about the conditions. After all, this is desert, sand dunes, wild camels, snakes, big spiders and banditos. So stay where you are where you are protected by the weather. Crime rates do go down during a blizzard, or at least that is what we are told...

Just having fun.........
