Pervasive eBay Fraud?
Wow, I sold a set of wheels on eBay, there were around 7 bidders involved total.
Several of them have gotten fraudulent "second chance" scam e-mails. Some spoof an eBay communication. Basically saying "The winning bidder could not pay, therefore you are being offered the chance to buy the goods at your last bid amount. Contact the seller at xxx@zzz.com." Of course, the "seller" contact e-mail is some hotmail or yahoo account. This seems like a fairly decent scam. Given the more obvious stuff that people seem to fall for, this one seems to have a good chance of occasional success. Given that more than one of my unsuccessful bidders have received these communications, it seems like this is a big problem for the eBay system. |

This happened to me twice as a losing bidder. I found out because the seller had posted a phone #. Otherwise I might have been taken.

This has never happened to me, but thanks to you guys, I will refuse any "second chance" offers.
I could be wrong, but these seem to happen mostly on big-ticket items, correct?

I got one recently on a 1000 bucks item I had bid on and lost. Trash canned it.
