Need to rant about what I just saw..(involves an SUV!)

Well, I'm pumping gas when I hear screeching tires and the sound of metal scraping pavement.. then I see this SUV(a Navigator I think) slam on the brakes in the middle of the road, turn around ON A ONE WAY STREET, and proceed to burn out and go against traffic.. then I guess he turned down a street cause he seemed to dissapear after.

Oh well, nothing I can do about it..

So then I finish pumping my gas, and I go on my way. I'm about to change lanes, and I look in my mirror and I see this saturn FLYING with his blinker on, so I stay in my lane but apparently he did too because he almost SLAMMED into me, he pulls out and is on one side of me, and I look over and I see that same Navigator on the other side of me, so not wanting to be on the recieving end of whatever they are trying to pull, I slow down a little bit, and they both take off.. That's when I see the big American Flag and the Bush/Cheney '04 sticker on the back of both cars... so that made them seem even more stupid than they already were.. They are weaving in and out of traffic, the SUV is going so fast that he can't control his car, he's swerving all over the place, making other cars swerve to get out of his way, at one point someone pulled out in front of him and I swear the damn thing looked like it was about to flip over as he turned to avoid the car that pulled out in front of him.. AHhhhh I was so angry, especially because I couldn't do anything to stop them..

I don't even know if any of that made sense... I'm just angry... angry because there are people that stupid and selfish, angry because I get pulled over for going a little bit over the speed limit, and these idiots get away with whatever the **** they want... I hope they learn their lesson, the hard way.

masraum 02-26-2005 06:56 PM

Yep, hard to take seeing that sort of thing. You want them to learn a lesson, a big one, but you don't want them or someone else to get permanently injured in the process. Now destruction of their property, that's another story.

Clowd 02-26-2005 07:00 PM

Was there anything I could have done? When I pulled up next to them at a light they looked like they were about ready to get out and strangle me, so I got out of there pretty quick... but I wish I could have at least scared them or something.. All I could manage in my anger was laying on my horn and turning my high beams on, lol.

expat 02-26-2005 08:03 PM

Actually...sounds like they might have stolen the Truck.

Clowd 02-26-2005 08:18 PM

Well if that's true they are absolute idiots(well, they are anyway.. but even moreso) because they weren't exactly being stealthy about their thievery... the SUV would skid to a stop and then burn out at every single light, every 600 feet or so, and when I saw him go the wrong way down the road I was about ready to chase him down myself..

M.D. Holloway 02-26-2005 09:18 PM

Guy sounds like he was flying on something - very so often some jackoff does something dumb and starts to get aggresive, I just pull out my cell phone with the camera in it, it works better than a gun, every single time the idiots look at me taking their pic and take off in the op direction I am going. I have taken plenty of oics but you can't tell jack cuz they are too blurry - the idiots don't know that!

350HP930 02-27-2005 05:29 AM

Probably just some spoiled punk kids out and about in mommy and daddy's car/truck.

Why should the parents mind their kids engaging in a little wreckless driving if they have no issues with a war criminal being reelected president?

You're absolutely right!

What a couple of jacka$$es!
I'll leave it to the reader to figure out who I'm talking about...

VINMAN 02-27-2005 07:23 AM

Randy, I couldnt agree more!!

SLO-BOB 02-27-2005 07:30 AM

Haha-I know who you're talking about. I'll leave out the politics (:)) and say that when I encounter buffoons (navigator and saturn)as described above, I get on the cell and call 911.

I had some idiots harrassing me and my family on the highway one day. As they say "I was just driving along..." but I really was just driving along in the right lane at my usual 72-75 mph cruise setting. Some kids pull up next to me (I'm in a minivan remember)and start making obscene gestures, laughing, and generally driving like as*holes. By that I mean reckless and certainly a danger to other motorists-possible alcohol/drug involvement. They speed off at a high rate. I call 911 and get "permission" to pick up my pace to clock their speed and see where they're going. Once I report 90 the cops tell me to back off and they'll handle it. Sure enough, a cruiser speeds past me like I'm standing still, and pulls the *****heads over. Very gratifying.

rcecale 02-27-2005 08:00 AM

Sounds like a great way to handle something like that Sebring! Sometimes subtlety is the best approach. :D

If they were going that fast and were behaving that dangerously - I would have got the plate/tag number and called the police. Politics aside, it is your civic duty.

M.D. Holloway 02-28-2005 07:45 AM

too old, too scared, too smart...but if I was younger, I would be the first guy to sign up for the Coast Guard by golly!

Kerry lost the election.

Hmm, I am pretty sure laura has the same vehicular homice stats as teddy. ;)

rcecale 02-28-2005 03:58 PM

Yeah, but the major difference there is the fact that Laura was held accountable for her mistake. ;) (right back at ya...)

350HP930 02-28-2005 04:44 PM

How, is being married to duh-bya a form of punishment?

rcecale 02-28-2005 05:00 PM

Yeah, sure...whatever you say. You're just boring the hell outta me with your senseless whining. As cmccuist ever so eloquently stated, "Kerry lost the election".
Deal with it, will ya?

Randy

350HP930 02-28-2005 05:39 PM

I wasn't talking about kerry, but you and a couple other people apparantly are.

I didn't know that criticising the president was not allowed between elections.

rcecale 02-28-2005 05:48 PM

Keep talking...I'm with ya...really!

It did, but mention of a bumper sticker in the first post bumped it to politics. I don't know, I've seen some fairly derelict driving due to cell phone calls conducted within the confines of "Kerry for President" stickered Volvo station wagons.

So basically, republicans can be bad drivers, and democrats can be bad drivers... big deal. The only reason I put that bit about the sticker in my post is because... I don't know, maybe I have a little bit of an instigator in me :D

That's cool, as long as you aren't chasing down a pickup with a gun rack in the cab.

There is NO one with a Saturn that voted for the President.

Let's see...calling 911 (hope it was a hands-free), getting permission to play Deputy Dad (highly unlikely), and chasing the obviously crazed perpretrators, with your family on board, in a minivan, at 90 mph? IF this is true, you were a bigger danger to others and your family then those kids were. When was the last time you tried an emergency maneuver in a populated minivan at 90 mph?

Just a thought.

Rob Channell 03-04-2005 05:53 PM

Refer to this thread for your solution:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/209199-2nd-amendment.html

We can do without those two votes if we have to............
How's that for instigation????

I was wondering how long it would take for the second guessers to crawl out from under their rocks:). What took you so long?

Re: the permission-I was surprised too. I wasn't chasing. They asked me how fast they were going. I paced them up to 90 and was then told to back off. Would I lie to impress you? Not likely.

Re: 90 in a minivan. I don't know where you live, but if I'm going 75 during my commute, I'm getting passed all morning. I routinely cruise along at 80-85 and somehow, in the 20 years I've driven minivans, I've managed to not have one accident OR get a speeding ticket. A short creep up to 90 is child's play in a minivan. In this case it was me and the "crazed perp(no "r")etrators"-no one else.

Re: emergency manuevers. Now try very hard to envision an Interstate. Usually 4-6 lanes wide, straight, and generally in good shape with excellent visibility. Unless a plane crashed in front of me, emergency manuevers are not likely. A deer? Guess what Einstein-you don't swerve to avoid them.

Thanks for playing.

dafischer 03-05-2005 01:40 PM

I see why you're such an angry little man, Sebring...you've been driving minivans for 20 years! :D

And yes, I do know how to spell perpetrator, but thanks anyway.

Lighten up, Francis.

First a condescending dick tells me I'm a liar and a danger to others on the highway. Then he tells me to "lighten up". LOL.

Trust me on this-I was laughing at both posts you made.

Should we bump into each other at a PCA event, please remind me of what a "little man" I am. We can laugh about that too.SmileWavy

dafischer 03-05-2005 02:33 PM

Well, you've certainly told me. Let's see, second guesser, live under a rock, Einstein, condescending dick...yup, pretty much covered it all!

Glad I gave you a laugh...you sound like a fun guy.

Have a nice life.
