				Fair and Balanced

Okay, I'm in the mood for some more entertainment. How many of you honestly believe that Fox News is "fair and balanced." Or just "fair?" Or just "balanced?" I don't want a bunch of mealy-mouthed shape-shifting here. It's a simple question. Who considers Fox News to be objective (fair and balanced). I'll start: I do not consider Fox News to be either fair or balanced. Now your turn.

Not trying to hi-jack your thread, Supe, but since you raised this subject, I have a better question for ya. "Why not"? Why do you say that Fox News is neither Fair nor Balanced? Seriously. Randy

Fox is the Pravda/Esvestiyah of the Republican Party. What I find interesting is the Republicans are doing their best to keep Rathergate alive, but you see no mention of the Gannon/Guckert/Talon News White House press plant, or the other political pieces the Republicans have been putting out as 'news'.

Komrade Randy - did you see the documentary "Outfoxed"? They went into great detail showing the difference between Fox, real life, and it's relationship the Party Line.

I consider the entire media to be just a N short of where I don't want to be in the p-car. Balance, fairness, what are you smoking? It doesn't exsist in the media, that's how they get people to watch.

The actual reporting on Fox is pretty much the way it aught to be...."here is what happened today" The entertainment shows obviously have a right slant, hell they admit it. Now other network shows like George Snuffaluphagus and Chris Mathews always fail to mention that their previous employment was in Democratic administrations!!!!!!! Just be honest that you're a hack for one side or the other. Atleast Fox does that.

I don't think Fox is fair and balanced......but then again, I don't think CBS or CNN are fair and balanced either. Ying and Yang.

Fox is about one step to the right...NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, MSNBC, CNN range from 5 to 20 steps left. Every network says its in the center. Technically none are. Let me give an example. When WBBM in Chicago (affiliated with CBS) broke the story about the Italian hostage shooting in Iraq, they only reported that U.S. soldiers had opened fire on the reporter's car and that the matter was under investigation. I flipped on Fox to find out about the whole roadblock situaton. If WBBM had been reporting a similar story about American hostages in another country, the story would have only said that they were shot after running a roadblock.

Oh, and Thom....that little "Komrade" thing...? I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm a conservative republican, not a liberal socialist, komrade!

What I would love to see is something like 'Outfoxed' but focused on the other news outlets. My fave part of OutFoxed was the deconstruction of Bill O'Reilly...

It amazes me what passes for a "documentary" these days. I define a documentary as a movie or television program that presents facts about a subject in an unbiased manner. "Fahrenheit 9/11" was neither factual nor unbiased, yet everyone still calls it a documentary. It sounds like this "Outfoxed" thing clearly has an agenda too.

People are biased. When they claim to put their bias and beliefs aside and be "objective" they're lying. NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc., are all leftie-biased because 90% of the reporters and producers are liberals. They claim to be fair, but they're damn liars. Fox has a majority of conservative reporters and producers. But they always try to get the opposing side to talk. It makes for good entertainment becuase you clearly see where they are. You're not sitting there guessing what they're really saying, or what they want to say but can't.

More... It's a lot like this board... We can count on lefties like 350, wide, supe to be ranting some lunacy or conspiracy, but there will always be a Noah, me, lenn, and others to make them look like fools

Well, with all due respect Bryan, we'll probably continue to bring lunacy to our discussions and splaying ourselves open for your rapier-like, mature and objective input. Even though we are constantly feeling humbled and humiliated by your powerful and logical presentations. Folks are brining an interesting point here, which is that there is news on Fox News, and then there is entertainment on Fox News. I admittedly have pathetic-little experience in watching anything on Fox News, but I guess that's balanced since I watch other TV networks just as rarely. What I happened to watch recently was an episode of that O-Reilly character. It was certainly amusing to watch and listen to him twist facts, bully guests, mischaracterize events and provide information not only out of context, but he could see very early when there was a chance that the rest of the story could get some mention and was very careful to ensure that would not ruin his agenda. He was, I would say, somewhat skilled at the deliberate subterfuge he was creating, but just laughable except in the context of the entertainer he apparently is. I mean he did not anger me at all and I'm not necessarily ciriticizing his performance. He was clearly taking certain stories (four, I think) and attempting to create a specific and narrow vision or interpretation of those stories. It was truly the antithesis of all that could be termed "fair and balanced." So now I hear that this is entertainment (I assume) which is not necessarily fair or balanced (to say the least), but that there is another, more objective, Fow News program that at least attempts to have the appearance of fairness and balance. If O'Reilly was making an attempt at appearing objective, he failed very very miserably.
