Exclamation Opinions on Jag XJRs??

Opinions on Jag XJRs??

I'm thinking of buying a 98 XJR for my mother, anyone here owned one?? At 68 (she raced her 356 Speedster at Sebring when it was new, and other SCCA races), she decided that she was old enough for a 4 door, but still wants something fun.
TIA

Have owned several of the older and newer Jags. After Ford took them over they became a lot more reliable. Owned my 2000 for over a year and very good luck with it.

Thumbs up

Thanks, that is what I have been told by friend and shops that I deal with, but when it comes to your mother, I really want to be sure, not just because I'll be paying for repairs, but because I don't want the one who made me who I am broken down on the side of the road.

Love those cars! I drove one for about 6-8 months a few years ago. My father bought a new car, but loved the Jag so much he couldn't let it go. So he gave it to me.

I agree that Ford was a good thing for them. Much more reliable. We didn't have any issues w/ our 98. Only thing I didn't like were the front seats. For me, 6'1", they weren't deep enough for my legs. That's was my only complaint. But the car is for your mother....so she probably won't have the same issue.

Jeez....now you've got me thinking....I should go buy one. Just what I need...another car! haha

I friend of mine had the 99 model convertible coupe - not sure which model that is exactly but they had a lot of problems with the engine. Apparently the cylinder lining or something kept peeling causing a no compression situation.

She went through three engines paid for and finally had the car bought back.

There's a jaguar forum like this one out there - just can't recall the name of it right now.
