Most powerful production car
I think this is the car they were calling the spiritual successor to the Lancia Strados - The Sweedish Koenigsegg CCR.

Top Gear did an episode on this car a while back. It is awesome, and everything (from suspension to clutch feel to brakes) is adjustable.
Watching the doors open is mind-bending the first couple of times. Though I don't know if it's more powerful than the Bugatti Veryon or some other stoopid-horsepower machines out there. JP

It has a Ford engine block - would you believe?
![]() ![]() ![]() On February the 28th 2005, at 12.08 local time, the Koenigsegg CCR broke the production road car speed record, achieving a new official top speed of 388 (387.87) km/h at Italy’s Nardo Prototipo proving ground. The Koenigsegg CCR raised McLaren's previously unofficial mark of 372 km/h set at Nardo/Prototipo in 1993 with over 15 km/h. On top of this the CCR broke the official McLaren F1 record of 386.7 km/h, which was set on the 9 km straight line VW Ehra facility in Wolfsburg Germany.

Blue -
Oh yeah...cool! "Dihedro-synchro-helix actuating doors" He alludes to the fact that this might be the fastest car in the world. kach - it may be the fastest (I dunno, but I'll take your word for it) but I read "most powerful" not as "fastest" but as, well, the car with the most power.

LOL Targas unite!
Actually, it's a hard Targa top, and it stows in front. No brake booster? ![]()

Even though it was never a "production" vehicle, I remember reading the news that the Callaway Sledgehammer Aero, being driven by the late John Lingenfelter, hit 254mph at the Transport Research Center in Ohio. Unfortunately for Reeves Callaway, it was never officially verified, but anything that far above 400km/h is friggin' insane and that was almost 20 years ago!
Bugatti claim that their new Veyron will clear 400km/h. Given the EB110's performance (at the same VW facility in Wolfsburg), it could come pretty close.

I suppose 9ff doesn't count as a "production car"... the Excellence cover story this month puts 9ff's 400 over 400 km/h.

FWIW, I'm trying to convince my buddy to get a Koenigsegg. He might have to move the McLaren SLR into the "other" garage with his Ferraris, Porsches and other toys. Or build a new garage, but he's done that before for his toys.
Geez, I just realized I never posted my pix of the SLR. Note to self... JP
