Best example is roulette - the 36x payout and 38x numbers means the odds are obvious and the difference between the two means a loss of 5.26% over time. Sure, if you vary the bet amount and get lucky it might go in your favour, but if you did that for long enough eventually you will end up back at -5.26% for every dollar bet. |
I'm surprised nobody has suggested he switch to black jack and learn to count cards. There was a show recently on the History Channel about an MIT group that cleaned up using an organized card counting scheme (all legal).

Until recently Card Counting in Black Jack was ILLEGAL in NV....today they tell you they don't want your action, escort you to the door tell you never to come back and take your picture and pass it along to every other Casino via their security services....
There was a case that went to the NV Surpream Court about a guy who was caught card counting, the Casino took away his money, had him arrested by the police and was convicted of card counting... cheating...his case was overturned by the Supream Court. He then sued to get his winnings/money back...the Supream court said NOPE....the police don't have to divulge what eveidence they have against you or how they got it....has to do with protecting sources of information...So guess what boyz you step into a Casino and your civil rights evaporate... |

On a ski trip to Tahoe, I was shooting for almost one continuous hour. I've never seen that happen before or since, to anyone. Don't know what happened but that was one hot table. Couldn't roll a 7 if I tried. Funny thing is, that day I was betting conservatively, just kept pressing what I had and nothing more, b/c I thought that any minute I'd crap out. Made fortunes for the whole table that night.
Re: the MIT blackjack story, it's all in a book called "Bringing down the house" Not written all that well, but it does explain how they worked the system. Brilliant strategy that will never work again. |
