Yes to both.
As I have been described in both terms.

Or how the "feeling of joy at another's misfortune" has turned to "finding pain in someone else's happiness".

Oh, how W. drives 'em crazy!

I've often wondered, knowing the impact that language and structure have on our thought patterns, whether the German language has helped to cause those folks to be the world's finest engineers. You see, it looks like Germans make words up from bit and pieces. Their language seems to be assembled from components. If need be, a sentence can simply be expressed as one big word, as near as I can tell.

stimmt,richtig,bravo,
I remember coming here and the English/American was somewhat difficult, your rules..well always an exception, lots of silent letters, TV / music was my best teacher.Don't get to use it much anymore..so it's fun to stick a word in here and there.

Germans have the need to express absolutely accurately. The one thing a native German speaker never notices. Having spent a little time trying to learn this language, I can appreciate Mark Twains comments.
