golf / country club membership "worth it"?
I debating joining a private club primarily b/c getting out in Westchester County, NY is almost impossible and if you can it's a 5-1/2 hour round. No tee-times required, 3-1/2 hour rounds, ability to take my 7 and 5 year old out on the course w/out holding anyone up... those are the pluses. I'm 38, really love every aspect of the game, and figure I'll probably join at some point in my life so why not now...but no matter how I do the math, if I got out even 30 times a year (alot w/ my committments) I'm looking at each round in working out to be $250 or so- which sounds ridiculous.
Anyone care to ID with me here, or share their personal rationalization plan?

I'll give you the short version..financially, it's not justifiable. You work hard, you want to enjoy your leisure time more, and decide that it's worth it to you. That's it in a nutshell.
I never question myself on the golf expenditures. Doing the math on $$ per round is expressly forbidden...it's what I do for fun. |
