San Diego this weekend - what to do?

The wife is working today and Monday in San Diego, so rather than her flying down and back today and Monday, I am flying down today and we are going to spend some quality time together.

I have never been to SD - any recommendations for the weekend? Any Pcar stuff happening?

A friend mentioned visiting the "Top Gun" bar.. Looks like the BBQ there might be good - anybody been there?

Thanks,

The (first and) last time I was in that bar the food sucked. Of course, that was almost 20 years ago.

Off the top of my head: Balboa Park, SD Zoo, Coronado Island, Seaport Village & Harbor restaurant, Anthony's Restaurant, gas lamp dist., etc.

You could always visit the local P-car shops too (Black Forest & Dieter's)

I think there is an auto-x at the 'Q' on saturday and you can visit Symbolic Motor Cars in LaJolla. Of course Tijuana is neat, visit Garage Los Ponchos and have some street vendor tacos too!

Hi,

we are having an autox on Saturday, come down to Qualcomm stadium. Lot's of nice cars and people, a few that frequent this board.

If your wife let's you go, take her to Tapanade in La Jolla and get the wine course dinner, it's great.

If it wasn't Easter weekend, I could have shown you around behind the scenes of the Zoo, we have a large construction project going on, so the middle of the park is going through some changes. Balboa Park also has some great museums and gardens you can have dinner at the Prado (ask to sit on the patio).

The Gaslamp District has some nice restaraunts, good music and some dance spots if you're into that.

Take a stroll up the beach from the Hotel del Coronado, it's going to be a sunny weekend which we haven't had many of for some time. San Diego is a great town, hope you enjoy it.

Symbolic Motors in La Jolla, then dinner at Georges at the Cove. Best sushi in town is Cafe Japengo in UTC. For the very best salsa go to Fin's in either Mission Valley (Costco shopping center) or Mira Mesa. UNBELIEVEABLE SALSA, self serve at the counter. Oh their fish tacos are good too :) Number one best advice - stay the hell away from the Old Town Mexican Cafe in Old Town. Worst margaritas, food, and service in SoCal - but visitors think they are authentic because of the location.

Breakfast downtown? Cafe 222 Mmmmm...waffles.

Skip the top gun bbq joint.
Phil's bbq just north of Lindberg airport about 5 minutes away off Washington and I 5 in Mission Hills is the BEST.
Great weather this weekend too!
