Well they are finally waking up

Too big to fail

Our immigration policy is a little wacked. On one hand, there's this tough talk, building fences, etc. OTOH, there's a push to legitimize illegals via health care, driver's licenses, etc. Meanwhile, if you try to board a plane with a pair of nail clippers, you're looking at 10 to 20 in Leavenworth.
It will be interesting to see how the volunteer border patrol operation works out.

We're fighting Muslim terrorists, and you cannot ride in a taxicab in my country that's not driven by a ME person who speaks no English, or maybe just a little.
I guess if we stop treating then, then they'll get sick quietly and die quietly, and we'll save money and feel better?

Team California

I've never heard any serious person suggest that hospitals stop treating sick patients, but let's face it: the whole immigration situation is completely broken. It's going to take some people w/ unbelievable political guts to honestly address it, much less fix it.
As much as I don't necessarily share Steve's particular POV re: blaming the immigrants, (how can you blame anyone for wanting to escape Mexico?), I agree w/ the premise that massive, unchecked illegal immigration is extremely damaging to the U.S. and our way of life. Not because of who the immigrants are, (they are mostly wonderful people), but simply because of the implications of rapid and huge population growth. California promises to become a completely unlivable place in my lifetime if something is not done very soon, and the rest of the country will follow. Why can't we enforce our borders and immigration laws, and put serious effort into helping Mexico become at least a 2nd world country? ![]()
