What's really important?
Just curious.... money, sex, youth, Porsches, family?
Just had a couple glasses of chard and was wondering. I try to keep my ship steering in the right direction (happiness), but, damn, is that ever a moving target. Sometimes, $hit happens, and your ship is all over the place. |
good wine

It's usually about money, sex, power. That is, until heath comes into play.

well no chard here but a couple Molsons got me thinkin.
Based on the last few years id say money is no where near the top. Im making less than I was several years ago and im much happier now. I would rather find a secluded stream or lake and cast a line than work. It just seemed the harded I worked the further in the hole I went. Im not saying I dont want to be rich but I wont forsake my family or my health to attain it. Earn more spend more where does it end. Why work yourself to death if you cant enjoy life because of it. I have spent a lot more time reconnecting with family and good friends the last year so that has to be a the top of the list. Several hunting, fishing & motorcycle trips this past year have been the best ever. |
Watching our kids grow up healthy and happy is certainly high on my list. I have a loving wife, great family and good health, so what else is there?
|
health. Everything else takes a back seat when that goes. Unfortunately I'm sorting through some of that right now (not me though). It SUCKS.

Sell your place, get the 1200 acre ranch in Montanta, and be done with it, motion. I think many times we are apt to chasing our tails.
I agree with David in that material things are only temporary. I sometimes want to sell my 911SC and buy an early 911 hot rod. However, when I get lengthy seat time in the SC, I realize I don't need an early ride, I just need to ride, PERIOD. Perhaps, you shouldn't guide the ship with firm hand. Jurgen |
Yeah, I guess good wine will make you happy no matter what's going on in your life, lol.
Jurgen - I think I'm just too young to check out and put my line in the water. That day is coming... but not quite yet. I've got a dream life going now.... but am always wondering what's next. For the next 40 or 50 years. |
My wife and kids being happy and healthy is my first priority these days.
We (wife and I) just purchased a small bizz that we will run from home part time. The idea is to make enough dough for both of us to work from home (quit present jobs) and have better control of our lives. This seems more important than money at this point. It seems we are at our happiest together knowing the rest of the family is ok. I don't know, stuff is good but it won't always keep you happy. |
"What's really important?"
Pizza and beer. But not necessarily in that order. |
Happiness is the key. Whatever it takes to be happy (although not at the expense of others)..that's the order you need to arrange things.
For me, it's health (everything else sucks if this isn't in order) and my relationships with family and friends. Hobbies, money, work, blah, blah, blah all fall into place when the when the first two are going well... Mike |

you dont think too much about health when you're young. it takes a back seat to everything else. but the more you age, the more you get your priorities straight.
|
along with health, music. Without it, I couldn't make it...
|
In the larger scheme, it is our relationship (or lack thereof) with God. But if you're discussing this corporeal life, then happiness. Happiness by the way, seems to be inversely proportional to the money you have. This is fairly well documented.
Love. That's it. After that, sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. Probably in that order. Oh, and sportscars. |
Health, Family, and enough money to help make life easier.
|
Health, family, sex, sportcars, money
I gave up a great paying career and early retirement to move somehwere where I like to be. Pay cut in more than half in a dead end job and sold the Porsche but I am a much happier person. Lots of money is nice but not worth what you have to go through to get it in my experience. |
