Thumbs up More than a car, a 911 is THERAPY....

This last Saturday, my wife and I lost our dog (read KID) suddenly. Our dog had cancer last August and had her spleen removed ($$$$) and all was going very well with her many follow up visits. She was as crazy as ever right up until bedtime Friday night. Then, in less than three hours early Saturday morning, she was gone. There was nothing that the vets could do

Needless to say, concentration has been tough today and at lunch I decided to go for a drive. Nice day, sunshine and the flat 6 symphony was medicine for me. I always feel good driving my car. Other cars pale in comparison everytime I am in them......

Point of all this? Who knows. I miss my dog and love my wife and love the feelings and emotions that my 911 can stir up. Even when feeling down

-Chris

sorry to hear about your companion - never easy.

I know what you mean about the car - best time is top off, putting the two in the back and the wife up front and just going 20mph in da'hood, accelerating through the curves - the kids tumbling in the back seat laughing their tails off and my wife giving me that look...

Sorry about your loss. We lost one of our dogs Easter Sat.
I agree there is something wonderfully involving about driving these cars. They are so forthright and responsive to your every move, (both good and bad). They can really help put some space between you and 'whatever ails ya'.
All the best.

Chris - sorry to hear about your dog. It's true, though: the 911 is the best therapy I know of; that and the bicycle. Even in horrible traffic, it truly takes me somewhere else. No wonder every therapist I know hates my car.

Chris, so very sad to hear of your loss. There is something magical about the space that a dog takes in your heart, it's not the space that our children or wife take, just a special place only for these special souls. I lost my Charlie almost 6 years ago when I lived in Cali. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. I will get another guy when I move back out west. It is amazing how our cars help ease our minds. They won't make the pain go away, but they help us get thru it somehow. Doug

My heart goes out to you and your wife, Chris. Losing a loved one like this is always difficult. My wife and I have two Shih Tzus that are more like our children than our pets. I sincerely dread the day when we no longer have them.

Just try not to have so many tears in your eyes that you can't drive. In time, the loss will hurt less. It will still hurt, just less.

People who don't have pets or have pets chained outside to keep the crack heads away won't understand your pain. I walked the same routes I took my dog on for a couple of weeks after he died. Yep, a great hobby does help fill the gap.

Fellow Pelicans,

Thank you all for the kind words. The people on this board are the best, period.

And why not? We all drive the best cars made

I will forward this link to my wife so that she can read what nice people are involved in the Porsche world.

Sorry about your loss, I just lost a cat that had been part of my life for 20 years, so I feel your pain. And like you, I have found that a nice drive with the top down does wonders.

chris i had not seen this thread till today. i offered up mcqueen to sylvie in my email to her. anytime she wants the company of a bad dog she can come and take him. i was fortunate to have met marley and she will be missed.

i felt terrible when you told me the news after our conversation the night before regarding rumpo's dog. when you two are ready we will have to get dr. chad to start keeping an eye out for another at the society. he can give a shout out when a peach arrives. he had me my 3 legged cat ready to go, but that was when i almost lost lyttle to the unrinary thing so i opted out.

see you tonite bra.
