The final and perhaps most significant threat to neocon hegemony is the price of gas. There is a limit as to what Americans can and will bear.

Everyone all over the world complains about oil prices. It is probably the biggest cause of rising prices as it effects everything at almost every stage, from design, to purchasing, to production to shipping to sale to the final user. However, nothing is ever done (can anything be done?). Why is this instance different?

Most Americans are stupid, with an attention span rivaling that of a sparrow. They will whine about gas prices, but then some NeoCon will say "hey, it's supply and demand" and they'll go back to their in-depth discussion of American Idol or who Britney is banging this week.

No kidding. The gullibility of the American voter knows no bounds, apparently. The rest of the world is watching, and it's pretty easy for them to see what's going on. The rest of the world is shaking their heads in sadness at us right now. And anger, of course. We're crapping on the campfire.
