Chicago Pelicans!
And I mean the people who actually live in the city.
I have a bachelor party this weekend. We are staying at the Homewood Suites at Grand and Wabash. Is this a nice area? Would I be better off driving my F150 or could I safely park my Porsche there? Thanks much!

DUUUDE!
Do not drive anything there. You should not be having to drive anything. Find another way.

Oh, OK.
Every time I have ever gone to a Bachelor party, I wished I had not driven, or had to remain in shape enough to drive. Call the Homewood and ask about the security of their parking. And the cab fare from the hotel to the party.

I think he's asking about parking availability. He's staying in downtown Chicago. Yes, it's a nice area. There should be plenty of parking garages to choose from. Honestly, the p-car might be better. The F-150 might restrict you on height in some garages.
Have fun, and no need to drive until you're going home. ![]()

Park the car at the hotel and take a taxi. Thats what we did when we got together a few months ago. Lots easier considering the parking situation and you are not going to be in any shape to drive anyway.
Souk should be about ready to get married I hear so might as well make it a group affair. Flak vest on, cannot wait to hear this one! ![]() JoeA

If the hotel had a parking garage, and they said it was safe, I'd do it. Some big city hotels have garages that I worry about parking the rental car in. But they will usually say so at the bell desk, either way. |

I was asking "could I safely park my Porsche there?"
I have no intention of driving around the city once I get there. I'll park my car at the hotel and leave it there until I leave the next morning. Anyway, I called the hotel, $35 a night for parking, valet only. Seems pretty pricey, especially since the last time I parked in the loop was five years ago (self park) and I paid $25 for a day. Secondly, I hate valets. I've never seen the point to pay someone a buttload of money to park my baby poorly with a few burnouts on the way, and then be expected to tip when (if) they bring the car back. Add this to the fact that there will be a World Series game in Chicago that day, and I expect the bars to be even more packed (and Miller Lights will cost $15 apiece instead of $7). I love going to museums and such in the city, but I hate the bars.

Just pay the 35 bucks. It's worth it to know your car is safe.

![]() ![]() I'm too busy to be getting married ![]() Legion: Drive, park, cab. Or drive to U of I, and take the train to Chicago. I recall some of the people I knew use to take the train from U of I home. It's probably a 3 or 4 hour trip from U of I on the train. A normal drive is probably 2.5 hrs. On a crotch rocket, with an ingorant idiot at the controls...2 hrs ![]() Last edited by MotoSook; 10-19-2005 at 05:33 AM.. |
