Troubleshooting help for NFS-Porsche Unleased and Logitech MOMO steering wheel.
Help! Anyone with computer game knowledge?
Have NFS-Porsche Unleashed. Just got the Logitech Momo force feedback steering wheel. Now after about three races where everything works fine, the game stops and blanks out and there is a screen popup that says there has been a problem with the “Porsche.ICD” file of the game. Anyone with this problem before? I thought at first my problem was RAM, so I increased to 1GB. No help. Before, I was using a joystick to drive and no probs. My computer has a Pentium 4, 1.7 speed processor Thanks!! |
I found my problem. I thought I was closing all the background programs that were running, but evidently I was not doing it the right way. Now the steering wheel works great. Here is some help for anyone in the future with this prob.
• Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time • Click the "Processes" tab. • Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name. • Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE. • Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names. • Click on END PROCESS • Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile. |
You really have to kill any other process to run it? That's kind of odd. Seems like only one of the programs you're killing is probably interfering. The others are probably just collateral damage.

Those suggestions were from EAsports and it does work. Yes, I agree that probably only one program was not working well with the Logitech wheel (i had no problems at all with the joystick). It only takes me a few moments to do this, but one day I must try only closing one at a time to see which one is the culprit.
