Hunting for an E28 535is...

Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone hails from the Morgan Hill area that could recommend a good shop to get an E28 Bimmer inspected for a potential purchase.

I would post this over on the BMW board, but it's a little quiet at the moment.

Thanks,
Paul

I think I know the car you are looking at. If it's Rick's, it is immaculate. You really don't need to bother with a PPI as he is very anal about his cars and I know you won't find any problems with it.
If you do want a PPI contact Ramon at Bavarian Motorsport in Milpitas. 408-956-1662.

Here's the Norcal caravan returning from Bimmerfest.

Yep, it's his. Small world. The car looks stunning and the price is right. I was really interested in Ron Perry's 535is, but I was second in line to the gent that led me to it (and wisely purchased it).

Rick's certainly looks like a good example as I've heard nothing but good things about him and the car.
Thanks for recomendation!

Here are Ron's e28s at Bimmerfest this past weekend. The Euro M5 took 1st place vintage. The other is an Alpina clone he built up.

Well, it looks like I missed out again; Rick sold it yesterday to a friend who had been wanting to buy it for a couple years.

Say Bob, you wouldn't happen to know of any 87/88 is' in comprable condition to Rick's (or even an ultra clean E12) in your neck of the woods that their owner might be willing to part with?
Many thanks,
Paul

Sarc,

Cars like Rick's are rare to find. Even here in rust free California most 15-20 year old cars are deficient in some area. Interiors worn/shot, engine worn/blown, you get the idea.

Give me an idea of what you'll accept and I'll keep an eye out for you.

This is my e28, it's nowhere near as nice as Rick's is.

i know of a 528 in texas that i would be willing to sleep with the old lady for. last i checked she had less than 9k miles on it. she lived around the corner from her job at the hospital. she has a turbo diesel mercedes in the same condition. she alternated between the two, and she gets them shined regularly every weekend. both white. it is my best friend's auntie. gilbert had first dibs, but he just had a baby and relinquished his standing. i saw the two cars parked when i went to help fix the garage door opener. i am just waiting, and waiting. i swear to GOD these two cars, are showroom perfect. the only two cars i dare call MINT.

She's a beaut!

Ideally, I'm holding out for something on the same level as the ex-Perry 535is that just sold to a chap from the mye28.com forums. Actually, when I starting the hunt acouple months ago, it was that guy (Tom, who goes by 5erQuest), that told me of three 5s that I may be interested in; One was Ron's pristine Diamondschwarz, an M30 powered M5 in NC, and a immaculate Royal Blue 535 in California somewhere.

Well I passed on the M5, and Tom ended up taking Ron's Diamondschwarz, but has remained mum on the Royal Blue example, expressing to me the owner has had second thoughts and would not like the "community" to know that he was planning on selling it to begin with. Kind of strange, but whatever.

So to answer your question, I would like a 87/88 535is in either DiamondSchwarz/Royal Blue/Black/Zinnerberrott with any interior combination. 5 speed only. Any tasteful mods or Dinan examples are welcome. As a gauge of condition, I would prefer something on the same level as the ex-Perry 535, the winner of last years Best in Show. A tall order I know, that might not ever be fulfilled.
But you never know!

Vash, sounds like you might be onto something there! Although I would try a little sweet talking before you resort to "extreme measures"

Sarc,

Did you see the 88 535is that BillW posted in the for sale section of mye28.com?

Might be worth looking into.

Bob
