Best seller EVER!
So yesterday I found an ad on Craigslist for a 79 SC. The ad (with some details changed to protect the innocent):
19XX Porsche 911 sc - $3500 Had new motor when I bought it and runs great. New 17in mags and michelins, Sport mirrors, MoMo wheel etc. Blue sunroof coupe. Minor rear end damaga, I have the parts. Runs and drives well. $3,500. Need the cash. So this sounded sort of promising, since i have some body work skills, and assuming the engine rebuild is documented I could probably sell the engine alone for nearly purchase price if the car was a total. Anyway, I decided to send the guys an email asking for details. Here is my email in its entirety: Hello, Do you have pictures of the car you could send me? How did the rear end damage occur? Thanks! -grant The next day, I received this reply: look at the car, no req. for pics accepted. Maybe you should try a dealership. -[seller's name] WTF??

True enough....I'm incredulous that my request for pics was met with "Maybe you should try a dealership." Considering the guy "need the cash" he's not doing a very good job...

In other words, "the car was rear ended by a fully-loaded dumptruck travelling in excess of 40 mph - any pictures of the resulting devastation would cause you to question my sanity in even asking $3500 to begin with".

That's pretty much my take.....except I was sort of envisioning it being a tanker truck with the impact sending it into a nearby harbour, where it spent 2 weeks on the bottom.
