my buddy works for an investment firm. very successful. bought a new bay area home when they were relatively cheap. worked his way up the company.

he treats himself to a golfing vacation in thailand. meets a girl that works at the clubhouse or something. and a few email correspondences later, and POW! he is going back in two weeks to her village to marry her. he has to party with the entire village. granted it probably gonna to cost 3k tops. but, marriage and NO PRE NUP! i think he has been married twice. but once for sure. i hope and pray it is for real and he is happy, and gets the family of his dreams. but the cynic in me, is worried has hell.

i have to admit, there was a few, but one in particular hotel clerk. marriott in bangkok, where i wanted to leave my g-friend, marry her, and give her half of my future earnings. she was that hot.

edit: my buddy would not "keep" a woman. he gave his last wife everything, including a home in san fran. i think she kept everything, cept the gayass pomeranian named "princess". which is probably the reason he needs to resort to dating out of country girls.

Guys - once you get the green card you dont have to go back. The divorce settlement is just a bonus.

I know a few guys who came home from a big aerospace project in Indonesia with new brides...they are all still married and are quite happy. Seems the women are taught from a young age that their role in a marriage is to take care of their man. A quality that seems to be less than prevalent here in the States.

Conversely, I know of a few married guys that went to Indonesia and came home divorced. Seems the local girls took a liking to the visiting engineers.

Now Nebraska would be enough to make anyplace else look sweet...

A friend of a frined travels to Thailand for Business 2 or 3 times a year. Each year he plans his vacation with a trip. He works for 2 weeks and then takes 2 off. He goes to Bangcock picks up a hot hooker and negotiates her staying with him for the month. I usually costs him between $300-$600. (If i remember correctly) After his 2 weeks on the job he takes he traveling with him down the coast. Then drops he back off in Bangcock and heads back to the states.

i hooked up with a thai girl once. her name was panada. friggen hot, but after a few dates she introduced me to her son. i didnt want any complications in life at that time, so i bailed. wish i new about the cooking and cleaning part tho.
