Been to Mazatlan...things to do, places to go...suggestions???

Going to Mazatlan first week in June and was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions of things to do, places to eat or visit. I prefer to get off the beaten path rather than going to the real ritzy places... Any deep sea fishing recommendations?

Thanks, Chris

Chris,

Careful about the water there. Their filtration is terrible and its one of the worst cities in the country for "tourista" if you know what I mean. Take lomotil (or buy it there) and stay away from water of any form unless its beer or filtered.

I usually go to Guaymas and go scuba diving but thats a ways away for you.

It will be hot and humid there that time of year. Dress lightly...

the water AND the fresh veggies. stay away. dont forget ice is made from water, so let some other tourist test the frozen margaritas for the first night before you indulge. if you see them the next night, you are good to go. they sell these wonderful smelling hotdogs on the streets at night. drunkeness enhances the smell. they are wrapped with bacon. DO NOT EAT THESE! you poopoo will be very black the next morning.....it was a fantastic time...!!!!! have fun

Go to El Caracol (the Snail)...3 stories hi w/ a slide and a firemans pole.

Tip: If you go down the pole, Make Sure you wrap your legs around the pole...watched a chick grab the pole w/ 1 hand drink in the other...3 floors in about .08 seconds.
Had to take her to red cross w/ a broken leg.
Red Cross was a trip...old guy w/ DT's tryin to drink water, had more on him than he swallowed. Federalies brought in a guy under armed escort looks like they worked him over REAL GOOD!
We flew outta Tijuana (poor college kids)...baggage inspectors shake you down. You MUST pay them. Guy in front of us told them to pi$$ up a rope, he wasn't giving them any money. Guess whose bags didn't make it to Maz
