What is the best way to Ship Tires and Wheels
I have a set of tires and wheels that I need to ship to hawaii, what is the best way!
How in the world do you pack them? Michael |
Unless the tires are virtually brand new & expensive its generally not worth it to ship them. I've heard FedEx & UPS sometimes accept unwrapped tires, but sometimes do not (seems to be at the discretion of the driver. If they'll take them you could use a few layers of circular cardboard taped over the rims & leave the tires exposed. Otherwise you'll need some big boxes!
Hawaii? I think its going to be expensive! |
Tire Rack usually sends them with the circular cardboard and strapped together. Here is my suggestion, box and ship each individually. The cost will not be cheap though. You have to figure each tire with rim is on average 60 lbs (ballpark guess) so that will run you quite a bit of money. My best choice would be to use a freight company such as Rapid Freightways or Trump Card etc.
