Check out Google Maps

Pretty cool.
http://bluegtzhome.com/satellite.jpg This image appears to have been taken maybe 5 years ago before the highway was turned into a flyover, and a new frontage road running parallel to the highway was made, but it's still a good representation of the area. |
This one gets in a little closer. The pictures are about a year old.

Mapquest used to do this as well until about 2 years ago.

Might be my location, they don't feel the need to photograph Kansas as often, or as closely :D |
Does anybody think it's kind of creepy?
Check out zabasearch.com I found out the street my wife grew up on, my co worker's zip code, my best friend's last 3 addresses, etc.. Kind of cool, but kind of scary at the same time. The government has had satellites with much higher resolution for some time. I have heard that my city government is now using satellite images to facilitate and organize building permits for various structures. You know what’s next....."we see Mr. Jones, from our satellite image, that you have built a deck in your backyard without a permit.....you owe us $200." It will happen. |
I used Google maps for directions this weekend - it neglected to tell me to change interstates. Won't use it again!

Yes I find it very creepy. If WE can get in that close from space just imagine the resolution the Govt. can get. |
zabasearch is out of the "free trial" stage I think.
