First Pelican Order
I placed my first Pelican order this past week. I have never started working on my car in almost 2 years so I figured I would start small with some seals. I think their ordering system and delivery time is incredible and I am impressed and will definitely order from Pelican again. Apparently my package was delivered today and looking up on the tracking, I found that this person signed for package.
Signed for by P.ORCH Ship date May 16, 2005 Delivery date/Time May 17, 2005 11:05 am I thought this was kind of funny and wanted to share. I have never met anybody with the name P. ORCH. |
I had one signed for by B. Ushes once.

...and depending upon the part you ordered that P.ORCH signed for, you never will...
...unless your "porch" knows how to write. ;) |

Thats common with FedEx and UPS. If no one is there they "self release" and just leave the package.
Problem is that if you have not signed the waiver and the package is stolen, then they are on the hook for the value of the package. I am on a Austin Healey list where this happened last week to a guy who shipped a overhauled gearbox to a customer. The UPS guy left the package at the door where it sat for 5 days since the customer was out on a business trip. When he returned it was not there, so UPS gets to pay for a new gearbox for this guy... Never check the "self release" box on the form... JoeA |

Never sign the waiver for a FedEX or UPS delivery, not even for just one delivery.
I learned that FedEX now claims to have a permanent waiver on file for me, that allows them to leave any and all packages without bothering to get my signature. I think they took a waiver I might have signed for a specific delivery (don't remember doing so, but let's suppose), and filed it as a permanent waiver. They don't make it easy to revoke this supposed waiver, either. Add to that, my FedEX Ground guy has taken to signing my name. So my $1400 computer got left by the door, with the delivery supposedly signed for by me - yeah, if I printed my signature in block letters . . . |
