Yeah! Hurricane season is here!

Sooo, I live in coastal AL now instead of coastal SC; same stuff - different region.

I notice that the weatherman hasn't changed his tune much; Yesterday: Upper level disturbences will weaken the storm, but it will produce alot of rain. Today: Storm got stronger, tropical storm warning and hurricane watch for your area. It'll produce alot of rain.

Oh well, batten down the hatches.....

I will take the "heat" and low humidity over the threat of having my house leveled every time!! (Have a daughter and her brood living in Huntsville...have experienced your 90 degree 90 percent humidity days..no thanks!!)

Daughter moved to Huntsville from Titusville. Go figure. Another daughter lives in Roachester NY (on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario) and thinks that people who live anywhere else are nuts. She puts up with nine months of winter and three months of lousy sledding.

I lived on the east coast until five years ago. Been there, done that, and at the time figured that was just the way things were. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else. When we relocated, I imagined having the awful heat, battling rattlers and scorpions and such. Didn't happen!! One gets used to the ideosyncracies of wherever they live. At least most people do.

Whereas we do not have hurricanes out here, we do have what is called "Monsoons" most of the summer with lightning as violent as Fla, and "microbursts" which can do a lot of damage.

Like I said - we all have our issues - I lived in Indiana - top 20 feet of our tree got taken off in a tornado.

I lived in Ohio, we had an ice storm that caved in part of our roof.

I've been flooded in Houston Texas, Hailed on the size of grapfruits in Dallas (which will do wonders for your paint) - in California I got tossed out of my bed in an earthquake.

I actually prefer the tropical storms/hurricanes. I can see them coming, and if I want to leave, I can leave.

Don't forget all the scary news stories on the nightly TV news here in the NW...Tsunamis, Earthquakes, and Volcanoes. According to these folks, we can get nailed at any time. Then of course, there is the slow death of the entire planet through global warming....and I'm sure I'm forgetting other things "they" love to scare us with. Hell, it's almost as frightening as the thought of meeting one of the Portland Trailblazers...
