woe is me
Well..it's been two weeks now and I just am not handling it well.
My wife's cousin even let me borrow his 10th Anniversary RX-7 turbo but I'm still feeling the pains of missing my SC. She's been in the shop now for two weeks; new clutch, turbo tie rods and some other work but when it was put back together it just wasn't running right. It's a shame too because these two weeks I would have been driving it more than usual since I'm taking a few training classes about 50 miles south of home. It would have been time well spent with my car but instead she's sitting in the shop with her guts hanging out. I'm so far I away I can't even be there for her. My buddy Joe had his 914 in there too and he was over there at the shop when my engine was first out - HE GOT TO SEE MY ENGINE OUT AND I DID NOT! I'm so sad guys...the dispair is just getting me. The RX-7 is very cool but it just makes me miss the 911 more - the first week she was out I rented a freaking focus...[snif] Its just sad; these two weeks I've been driving all the time while normally I take the bus to work and leave the wife with the 911. She misses it too but not as much as I do I think. ![]()

Sure beats having doing it yourself.
Try staring at your baby as she sits in a million peices for the entire 3 months of winter.

Cheer up buccaroo. The anticipation is sometimes better than the actual event. It's going to be great when the SC is done. It'll be like the first time you drove it.

That's sure a long time for a new clutch and other minor stuff. On the other hand, cars always seem so much faster than before after not driving them for a couple weeks.

Well, I got it back last Friday and the clutch and tie rods were fantastic but the engine was now running like crap. So I took it back; told the mechanic that it was running entirely different than it was when I gave it to him and that he needed to get it back to the way it was (after complimenting him on a wonderful clutch, tierod and alignment job).
so - I had it towed over there on Monday morning and still don't know the status. I'm not entirely pleased but I have been in contact with the mechanic. I told him I didn't want him to rush it.

Got it back today with new spark plugs and 2 degrees of ignition timing. Also he redid the valve adjustment to check his work (said it was good) and pressure washed the oil off of all the exhaust bits.
Did me right really - seems to be running closer to what it was before I gave it to him. Clutch feels great still which is fantastic; I can't wait to drive it to work tomorrow.

Glad you got it back.
It could be worse. I once put mine on jackstands to rebuild the brake calipers. It was a month before our 3rd baby was due. We got busy, then she came a little early and I didn't get my car back on the road until after her 2nd birthday.

If you took it in for clutch work and tie rods, why would the timing be off? Do 911's parts have some sort of quantum connection? If you burn out a headlamp, will your syncros fail? Anyway...
How did she run today?
