Hawaiian Shirt day (or, more corporate BS)

In an effort to make all the employees(ASSociates in corpspeak) feel good about where they work and what they do, my company sponsors these silly contests once a month with some lame ass prize. Today's event - a paper airplane making/flying contest carries a prize for a free lunch! WooHoo! Rules are, a single sheet of copy paper with no tape, ballast, paper clips or other fixtures. Prizes will be awarded to the three furthest flyers and the most creative. Well, so I pulls out all my aerodynamical enjineerin skills and came up with the perfect plane for the distance category. I think I should get points in the creative category as well, but the fix may be in for that one....... My entry is #4..... | ||

You'll have to let us know how the contest goes. My money is on #8. In one of these contests in physics class, I made one of those ring planes and schooled everyone. It was just a single ring, 8 looks way different, but has the same idea.

			1) How was #8 made without any adhesive??? OTOH, I just thought of a way but I don't think any of your coworkers would be smart enough to pull it off. 2) What's the permitted launch method? If you repeatedly fold up a sheet of paper into a tiny "V" and launch it with a rubber band it'll go pretty far--probably further than you can throw #4 (owing to a smaller Cd). 3) Apparently today is Hawaiian shirt day here as well. How exciting. (PS: Yes, I'm a paper airplane freak.)

Mark, I am a manager but even I wouldn't come up with a lame contest like that. No offense to paper airplane freaks. I just came back from lunch with a few guys that work for me. They pulled off a task that we didn't think was possible today. They did it without anyone getting hurt and yee ha, no UAW grievances.

The IT and product build guys started wearing Hawaiian shirts every Friday about three months ago. Now even some of the managers are wearing them… I guess we’ll need to move on to something else.

Mark, When I read your post, I was disappointed (and surprised) that you were participating. Then I saw your entry and breathed a sigh of relief . . .
