Honda Ridgeline

I have heard a few people talk about it, and even seen a picture in someones drive way.

This seems like a great car or truck, so what do you know?

Michael

I really like the storage compartment in the bed...not quite sold on the looks yet. With the typical Honda fit and bulletproof engine..it should be a popular truck.

Never could see the wisdom of a 4 door sedan with a trunk open to the weather and vandalism.....

I thought it was a stupid idea when GM & Ford tried it 5 years ago. Maybe now thats its an import people will love it.

I saw this at the Detroit auto show had same reaction as with just about every other import. "huh didnt some one come out with that years ago?"

Oh and its even uglier in person.

Yeah I guess i should have been more careful about the picture of the kids that I posted.

Anyway, yeah I got to drive it for a weekend and for what it is, it does vey well. It is the only truck that my wife would consider owning and driving, I used to have an extended cab GMC and my wife just hated it for its size, poor ride when empty (which was most of the time) and the lack of secure space for luggage. The Ridgeline answers most of those questions pretty well I think.

It was funny in a way, I got more looks and stares and people stopping to talk to me in that than in any other car I've ever driven.

Please enlighten me on what the domestics did five or six years ago, I don't remember a trunk in the truck, I remember the plastic beds.

The hockey bag does fit nicely in the trunk too.

I think it hits the dealers on 1-Mar.

Mike

Looks like Honda's version of the Pontiac Aztek (i.e. looks like arse).

I was considering waiting for the Ridgeline mainly for the i-Vtec V6 engine...the body style has me scatching my head. The price is problematic too. I eventually went with the Sport-trac LXT version and glad I did. The reliability, so far, no complaints and it suits my lifestyle perfectly. It will be interesting to see how well the Ridgeline performs but I think the pricing in this category is a little on the high side.

we got our Pilot last year, heard they were going to have a pick-up and this got us excited. Saw it first during the Superbowl - we all thought, "What an ugly truck!" Everyone has different tastes, but it is a Honda so it will last a zillion miles with no care. Still, I wish it looked like a Tacoma or a F150 even.

Well I went and test drove one of these to quench my curiosity--I currently drive a Ram 1500-Hemi. The Ridgeline drives very differently than the Ram--much more car-like and nimble. Nicely done interior. Fit and finish is really good--its quiet, and the engine is peppy around town but not as fast/quick as the Ram but the difference in mileage is also significant--12 in Ram vs. 18 for Ridgeline for city driving. The model I looked at was loaded so not quite a fair comparison for my basic model Ram and the price differential was around 10k. Not quite worth it for me now but in a couple years I would seriously consider one.

as i was previously a honda sales consultant, (and freelance mechanic) the main reason it drives so different is that its a van underneith of everything, its just a slightly modded odysey van

I am curious if this is the same reason that I am not buying one - PRICE!!! I am currently looking for a truck to replace my aging Mazda B2000 and have looked several times at the Ridgeline. Both my wife and I have Hondas as our daily drivers and we love them. My second issue is that I cannot even load my four-wheeler in the back because of the shortened bed (I realize that this is typically the case with the four-door trucks). I still am not willing to spend that type of money on a vehicle that really isn't what I would consider to be a true, functional truck (the base model is $27,000 whereas the 'normal' models are around $33,000).

had one in the shop the other day.........
didn't like it at all.
the tailgate is neat though as it can open by flipping down or by swinging sideways, but that's the only thing i liked on it.
uglier than sandra bernhardt in spandex
