Watching a horrible Chuck Norris movie

Man... The remote is all the way on the other side of the room and this was on when I sat down... so I'm watching this horrible chuck norris movie on AMC. It's just awful. Not walker texas ranger awful, but pretty awful.

You young kids these days!!! When I was a kid we didn't have remotes, and we had to get up, walk over to the TV change the channel, and stand there to see if it was something we wanted to watch. Of course, we only had three stations in those days ABC, CBS & NBC.

You had TVs??!! When I was a kid TVs were called BOOKS! If we wanted moving pictures we had to use our imaginations! And we liked it!

Bryan..

On a more "serious" note, the time movies like the "Missing in Action" and "Rambo" were made (the eighties), the Country had not gotten over the fact that a "war" had been lost. There were folks on both sides of the spectrum; those that blamed the military for the loss, and those that blamed Washington for not allowing the military to win. Of course, there were those who were anti-war in any way, shape or form. Many guys who came back felt they were being villified, and this led to disassociation from society. These movies reflected that anger and were an attempt to cash in on the need for society to put the blame on someone other than the poor grunt. Having lived through that era, I know a number of guys still suffering from emotional and psychological effects. To this day, I think there is still a considerable amount of anger, and the government hopes those who still hold this anger will die over time and the entire episode will be forgotten, relegated to the history books.

AS far as the TV comment, again on a more serious note, the nightly news used to keep a daily "body count". Bizarre to say the least.

No war is pretty, and should be a last resort, but sometimes there is no viable alternative. Too bad the idealouges that think it up aren't the ones who die during its execution.

I read Chuck Norris' biography...excellent reading and fascinating in a way.

Chuck was good friends with Steve McQueen, trained him in martial arts... the book had lots of nuggets on McQueen's paranoid and quirky personality.

I always have a hard time watching The Octagon. Always feel like someone behind me keeps whispering to me about something.

"Horrible Chuck Norris Movie". He's made ones that aren't? He'll never match the intensity of Van Damme in "BloodSport". That scene in the final fight in which he gets dirt thrown in his eyes and is forced to fight blind (fortunately taught to do so by his master), is Oscar gold!!
